Advertising Policy
Last updated: 29 September 2026
Mish gets friends off their phones and out doing real things together. Sponsored missions let local businesses invite crews in, as long as they make Mish better for players, not worse. This policy applies to every business account and every sponsored mission.
How sponsored missions work
| Tier | Where it shows | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | Takes turns in the Sponsored spot under Bonus, in your area | $5 a week |
| Boost | More turns under Bonus, plus an occasional sponsored post in the Feed | $10 a week |
| Spotlight | Shown first under Bonus with a photo, plus more sponsored posts in the Feed | $20 a week |
Runs are 1, 2 or 4 weeks. Prices are in Australian dollars. Prices include any GST, so what you see is what you pay. You can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Bitcoin Cash.
To keep Mish from being full of ads, for players:
- sponsored missions are always clearly labelled Sponsored;
- they're shown by area only, never by profiling people;
- at most 2 show under Bonus at once;
- in the Feed, at most about 1 in every 20 posts is sponsored, and no more than 3 a day per person;
- Near me and the Weekly Mission are never used for ads;
- there are at most 2 Spotlight businesses per area at a time;
- Mish is for 16+, so sponsored missions from bars, breweries or with alcohol offers are 18+: they're only shown to adults, and never to under-18s or to crews with an under-18 in them;
- people can hide or report any sponsored post.
What a good sponsored mission looks like
Something a group of friends would genuinely enjoy doing together at your place. For example: "Two-for-one tacos for crews", "Bring your crew for a free round of mini golf", "Sunset session: $5 off jugs when you show this". Keep it short, honest and fun.
You must
- Be a real business you're allowed to represent, with a real address where crews check in. Business accounts are for people 18 and over.
- Honour the offer exactly as shown, for the whole time it runs, with no hidden conditions. Put any conditions (like "Mon to Thu only") in the offer itself.
- Show accurate prices, and use photos of your actual place or offer.
- Follow all laws that apply to your business and your advertising, including the Australian Consumer Law.
Not allowed
- Anything illegal, or illegal products and services.
- Gambling, betting or sweepstakes that need payment.
- Tobacco, vapes and nicotine products, drugs and drug paraphernalia.
- Weapons, fireworks or explosives.
- Adult content or services, sexually suggestive material, dating or escort services.
- Alcohol offers that push heavy or fast drinking: no drinking games, "all you can drink", skolling or shots challenges, and nothing linking alcohol with driving, swimming or other risky activities. Alcohol ads must also follow the ABAC Responsible Alcohol Marketing Code.
- Dangerous activities, or anything that encourages people to take risks.
- Misleading claims, fake discounts, bait prices, or fake urgency ("only 2 left!" when it isn't true).
- Health, weight-loss or medical claims.
- Financial products, crypto investments, get-rich-quick schemes and multi-level marketing.
- Political or social issue ads.
- Discrimination of any kind, or content aimed mainly at under-18s (for example, anything that makes alcohol appealing to young people).
- Collecting people's personal details (like "send us your phone number to claim").
- Using other people's brands, photos or music without permission.
How we check
- Automatic check: when you send a sponsored mission, it's checked against this policy straight away. Most are cleared in seconds, and then you can pay.
- A person checks the unclear ones: if something might break the rules, a Mish admin looks at it, usually within a day.
- If it's turned down, you'll see why. Fix it and send it again. If you think we got it wrong, reply through Feedback & ideas or email hello@mishsocial.com.
After it goes live
We may end a sponsored mission early if it breaks this policy, if lots of people report it, or if the offer isn't being honoured. If we end one because it breaks the rules, there's no refund. If we end one early for any other reason, we'll refund the weeks it didn't run. Repeated or serious breaches can lose you the ability to advertise on Mish.
Results
You'll see how each sponsored mission went: how many people saw it, how many crews took it, and how many checked in. Totals only; we never tell businesses who.
